marathon, dont sprint
I love love Love sprinting. my neighbour suggested running for hall and i laughed because Hall 8 has unglamorously, been Knocked Out Cold for all sporting events. ALL. So surely, it would be so embarassing to run for hall, but if i win then hall 8 would be famous, just for track! And i get points too.
I got reminded why i always wanted to run in competitions, and how i gloried in the fact that i dont train but still manage to get awards. How exhilarating, and how very conceited. Perhaps i love sprinting for the wrong reasons, or worse i love winning not sprinting.
We as christians know that we ought to run the race. This race of Godly living is not a sprint but a long, laborious marathon that does not end merely after 15 seconds. So how are our staminas for living a Godly life?
2.4 alone gives me shaky knees, a splitting headache and seemingly endless puking, because i cant be bothered to train, and i would never ever join whatsoever Standard Chartered marathons even if horses drag me apart. Yes i'm pathetically weak, so having a stamina keeps these annoying problems away. Even when you are experiencing discomfort, it still keeps you going; you're not leaning over the sidewalk tossing your guts out, giving up! The same goes for Godly living.
ah. so much for sensibility and self reflection. Neighbour just said it's on sunday morning and it's relaying 4 x100 or 4 x 400 (practically a marathon) so NO more sprinting! So maybe next time, i'll sprint only when i have to.
Heb. 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
