Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven."
Matt 19:14 ESV
What is Faith?
My sunday school teacher gave us a homework which was like due 3 weeks ago, and that was to ask 2 christian and 2 non christian friends this question above.
He said christians will give descriptions of the Christian faith and there will be an element of depth (of faith, on our part) in their explanation. While, for non Christians, it would be something simple like to believe in something. My teacher likes the latter answer. He likes it for it's simplicity but he made it clear that it is to believe in God. Faith is dependent on knowledge. When our knowledge of God grows, our faith grows as well. Our faith is about who we think God IS. It has nothing to do with how hard, how deep or how intense we believe. Just, Believe -> Action.
CS Lewis says it "is the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted, inspite of your changing moods, for moods will change, whatever view your reason takes." It is also a "serious attempt to practice Christian virtues."
So what is Faith to you?
